Small Business of the Year entrant – BusinessLodge Stoke

BusinessLodge Stoke, a former Npower building converted into high-spec serviced offices, had a 100% occupancy rate for most of 2024 – in fact its lowest occupancy rate for the year was 98%.

Its flexible office space, co-working space, meeting rooms and virtual office services in Fenton are home to more than 120 local businesses. BusinessLodge has recently invested further and purchased Heron House in Heron Cross, due to open in August 2025, to accommodate more businesses.

It caters for sole traders up to 50-desk offices and has a virtual office service for businesses not needing a physical office but wanting to use the BusinessLodge business address with full-time receptionist services and the option of occasional office or meeting room use, mail service and access to networking.

As the managing director of BusinessLodge Stoke, University of Staffordshire alumna Kate Holt oversaw the purchase and transformation of the former Npower building into high-spec offices with an on-site gym.

Kate had previously established and grown four similar developments in Bury, Lancashire, but had never forgotten her student days in Stoke-on-Trent and saw the opportunity to do something similar in the city.

Kate and her team ensure their clients are fully supported and each treated according to their bespoke needs as they grow, take on flexible working, move to larger accommodation or downsize.

The team organise social events, networking sessions and charity fundraisers for businesses based at the offices.

BusinessLodge Stoke was recognised nationally when it won the Excellence in Customer Services Award at the 2022 FlexSA – Flexible Space Association Awards and was a finalist once again in 2024.

BusinessLodge Stoke has entered the Small Business of the Year category of the University of Staffordshire Business Awards.
