Hobb Computer Services Ltd – Small Business of the Year entrant

A Staffordshire IT company which celebrates its 30th anniversary this month was originally founded by four friends – all of whom still work within the company.

Hobb Computer Services Ltd, based at Festival Park in Etruria, supports thousands of IT users every day and helps organisations across Staffordshire run securely and efficiently with minimal disruption.

The business began with a simple idea: to become a reliable IT partner that businesses could genuinely depend on for the long term. By combining their skills and experience, they identified an opportunity to offer something different. Not just IT support, but a service built on trust, consistency and strong relationships.

Hobb has grown through long-term relationships rather than short contracts. Many clients have been with the company for decades. It works closely with them day to day and acts as an extension of their teams, supporting their growth and sharing in their successes.

The team of nine, including those four original founders, are committed to CSR including long-standing relationships with organisations such as Douglas Macmillan Hospice. Through fundraising, event sponsorship and the donation of refurbished equipment they aim to make a difference where they can to the communities within which they are based.

Working with local colleges, the business provides students with hands-on experience. One student has already progressed into a full-time engineering role with Hobb since 2021 and the company is currently supporting another on a similar pathway.

Hobb Computer Services Ltd has entered the Small Business of the Year category of University of Staffordshire Business Awards.
